Voices
My first experience with hearing voices occurred when I was around nine years old. I was practicing my handwriting on the floor in front of a family member. As I wrote, I distinctly heard a man and a woman talking. Each time I paused, the voices stopped, only to resume once I began writing again. This was the moment I realised there were two voices speaking in a different language. Although I felt as though I understood their conversation, I could not translate it.
To test this phenomenon, I placed my pen on the paper without writing, and the voices continued. Intrigued, I looked up at the ceiling, wondering about their source. Moving down the corridor, I met a relative and asked if they could hear a man and woman speaking. The voices then stopped, and although my cousin claimed she could hear them too, I sensed she did not.
Determined to discover where the voices originated, I followed her, but their source remained unsolved. Eventually, I walked away, still unsure of their origin, although it seemed they came from above. Despite the mystery, I did not feel afraid; instead, I felt oddly familiar with the voices.
