Grounding
Grounding can be similar to self care and wellbeing however they are slightly different.
Self care is caring for yourself first - filling up our cup before it empties. By participating in activities that you thoroughly enjoy, this can be playing sports, making a lovely dinner, a facial routine, getting your hair done, going to bed early, this is looking after you. Discipline and boundaries.
Well-being is maintaining happiness, health, stability, and balance in life. It covers physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual health; neglecting any parts can decline overall wellbeing.
When grounding yourself you would need to apply boundaries, discipline, applying good habits to your routine.
Here are a few examples of the rules that I applied for myself; walking daily in the late afternoons or in the mornings if there is enough time. I do not take my mobile phone with me as this is my time with nature. I avoid late night walks and stay in areas of the public when attending to my exercise. I spend a minimum of forty minutes or more daily, enjoying the present moment.
When it comes to exploring I always take my mobile phone with me, due to not being in a familiar area and for emergency cases, it acts as security when I do go on my small adventures. I also use my mobile phone to take photos of nature as it has become an enjoyable hobby.
Get a back pack and travel to areas that you feel mostly connected too - that provides you with that good feel moment.
I’ve had experiences in different locations which have different energies. I travel to areas that I feel mostly connected or even drawn to, leaving my mindset in a lovely peaceful clear state. Remember where ever you are such as the beach, take your shoes off and go for that swim, be in that moment.
You can also ground yourself at home, walking barefoot, opening up your windows, doors and allowing that fresh air to come through your home.
When it comes to grounding I feel this is more of an earthly remedy using our senses to calm our state of mind.
Grounding also known as earthing is touching the earth directly by skin contact. It is a technique that is used as a ‘natural prescription’ as cleverly stated by Lori Chortkoff Hops, 27th Sept 2022. It is a natural remedy to bring ones state of mind into the present moment by calming the nervous system from stress, anxiety, depression and other low moods. It is a technique that is used to balance oneself from an emotional state using the earths energy as a natural remedy.
The research that I have found is mainly based on my own experience and knowledge.
To ground yourself you can do this by touching and walking barefoot being in direct contact with nature - feeling the earth beneath your feet as you walk, touching the leaves, the soil, sand or the water as you observe your surroundings.
Listening for the sounds of nature in your surroundings, feeling and hearing the wind. How the weather touches your skin, face, and body. Absorbing the light and breathing in the air and fully releasing tension within your body and enjoying the present moment.
This simple habit acts as a gentle form of meditation which can calm the mind in low mood moments.
Energy is in everyone, everything and everywhere which can be transferred to and from objects, food, plants and people. There are many ways to ground yourself, you can do this by participating in outdoor activities such as
photography
swimming
walking/running
fishing
paddle boarding
gardening
yoga
exploring
You can do this with friends, family or a group of people.
If you are alone - encourage yourself to get out of the home as your life can become stagnant, keep your mind and body moving.
We can also ground ourselves by consuming the appropriate foods this is also a natural remedy, as certain foods contain nutrients to boost ones mood and energy, balancing the mind and body.
Rooted vegetables and fruits such as carrots, beetroot, sweet potato, apples and blue berries grow roots that enter deeply into the earths ground stabilising the plant and delivering a solid base for growth. While consuming the vegetables and fruits you absorb the earthly remedies, nourishing and grounding your mind and body.

I have found that we need to find contentment within our selves. What we go through in our daily life is a form of spiritual growth and we need to find that peace within our selves. Balancing our selves and reassessing what we are lacking and what we need to do to avoid negativity.
It is easier said than done and it can be challenging, as this is our testing ground.
